Terms of Use

Use of any page, article, or search function is subject to these terms. A visitor who does not agree with them must discontinue use of the website.

NO FCRA USE. This website is privately owned and run. It has no affiliation with any local, state, or federal government body. Neither this site nor any of our advertising partners offer services meant for credit checks, employment screening, insurance underwriting, tenant evaluation, or any other use covered by the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA). We exist to help visitors find criminal-record resources in Chautauqua County and New York. We are not a private investigation firm, and we are not a consumer reporting agency.

1. What This Website Is

This privately operated reference site has no government affiliation. It neither stores official criminal records nor retrieves, certifies, changes, or files them for a visitor.

Its content identifies Chautauqua County custodians, including the Sheriff, criminal courts, DCJS, and the New York State Sex Offender Registry, and may link to independently operated tools.

2. Rules for Using This Site

You agree that you will not:

  • Break any federal, state, or local law while using this site
  • Use information you find here to stalk, harass, or threaten anyone
  • Base hiring, housing, lending, or insurance decisions on content from this site
  • Try to break into our systems or gain access you are not supposed to have
  • Run bots, scrapers, or automated tools against our pages
  • Do anything that slows the site down or blocks other people from using it

3. No Harassment, Stalking, or Discrimination

Using information from this site, or from any tool linked here, to harass, stalk, intimidate, threaten, or discriminate against any person is prohibited and may be a crime. This applies with special force to sex offender registry information: New York law restricts how New York State Sex Offender Registry data may be used, and misusing registry information against a listed person can carry criminal penalties. Registry data exists for public safety awareness, not for vigilante action, employment blacklisting, or housing discrimination.

4. We Are Not a Consumer Reporting Agency

We are not a consumer reporting agency under the FCRA. We do not generate background checks, credit reports, or consumer reports of any kind. Neither we nor our advertising partners provide services built for screening job applicants, reviewing rental applications, calculating insurance rates, or judging creditworthiness. You agree not to use data from this site or any linked tool to:

  • Decide whether to hire or fire someone
  • Screen potential renters or housing applicants
  • Judge creditworthiness or set insurance premiums
  • Determine who qualifies for licenses, permits, or government programs
  • Do anything else that falls under FCRA rules

If you need a background check for any of those purposes, order an official check through the New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS) or an FCRA-compliant screening company.

5. No Legal Advice

The material is general information, not legal advice. A licensed New York attorney should address how a charge, conviction, warrant, or record-sealing rule applies to a particular situation.

6. No Warranties

All content and functions are supplied "as is" and without a promise that:

  • The information here is accurate, complete, or current at any given time
  • The site will stay up and running without interruptions
  • Our pages are free of errors, bugs, or security holes
  • Results from our partner search tools will be thorough or accurate

Charges, dispositions, sealing status, fees, and access systems can change. No page is an official statement from a court, sheriff, or agency.

7. Third-Party Services and Links

Government, legal-resource, and outside-service links lead to independently controlled websites. Their operators, not this site, are responsible for content, privacy, fees, terms, and availability.

8. Intellectual Property

Text, graphics, logos, and code belong to Chautauqua County Criminal History or its content partners. Copying, adapting, or distributing that material requires prior written permission.

9. Limits on Our Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the operator is not liable for loss arising from use of the website or reliance on a linked service.

10. Indemnification

A user agrees to indemnify the operator against claims, demands, costs, and reasonable legal fees caused by that user's misuse or breach of these terms.

11. Governing Law

New York law governs these terms, and related disputes must be brought in a court located in New York.

12. Changes to These Terms

Revised terms become effective when posted on this page.

13. Cutting Off Access

Access may be limited or terminated at any time and without advance notice.

14. Severability

If one provision is invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue in effect and the affected language is narrowed only as needed.
