Why We Built This Site
New York's record system is broad but decentralized. The Chautauqua County Sheriff keeps jail, booking, warrant, and agency files; the court that heard a case controls its filed charges and disposition; DCJS maintains the fingerprint-linked repository; and DOCCS and the state registry answer different status questions. The site brings the published contacts, request steps, portals, and fees into a single county-focused reference.

What We Cannot Do
This is a privately operated reference site with no tie to a New York court, sheriff, police department, or state agency. Its role has clear limits:
- It cannot retrieve a person's official record or perform an official check
- It cannot submit FOIL requests, sealing motions, or other papers for a visitor
- It cannot certify a court document, rap sheet, or agency record
- It does not provide legal advice about a charge, warrant, or case
- Time-sensitive fees, officeholders, hours, and contacts must be confirmed with the agency
Only the Sheriff, the originating court, DCJS, or another lawful custodian can issue or certify the record it maintains.
Search Partners
Outside providers power some search boxes. Each provider controls its own service, results, data practices, and prices. A paid signup may generate a referral fee that supports the site, but the site does not control the provider's charges or the completeness of its results.
